What is Off-Page Optimization?

Effective SEO optimization can be accomplished by two approaches. These two factors play a crucial role in the optimization of SEO running. The wheels that drive the SEO vehicle are on the page and off-page variables.

We have addressed on-page factors already. This time let’s focus on off-page factors:

  • Linking domains:

One of the most significant ranking variables is the number of domains linked to you.

  • Linking pages:

There could be several links to your site from a specific domain, their number also being a ranking factor. It is always easier, however, to have more connexions from individual domains instead of from a single domain.

  • Page Rank:

The pages are not all equal. A greater factor than those on low PR pages would be connexions on pages with a higher Page Rank. Therefore, from high PR sites, you can aim to create ties.

  • Link Relevancy:

Some SEOs believe that search engines are more important to links from pages related to the subject of your page.

  • Authority of linking domain:

Similar to a PR page, a domain’s authority may also be a ranking factor. Therefore, a connexion on a high PR site from a low PR page would be worth more than from a lower PR site.

  • Quality of backlinks:

Similarly, some SEOs think that links from a linking domain’s home page hold more power than those on one of its sites.

  • The number of do-follow vs. no-follow links:

Google officially confirmed that {link with rel= no-follow attribute attached) no-follow links are not counted. Therefore, the number of links you follow can also impact your rankings.

  • Multiplicity of link types:

The types of links that you are creating to your site also matter. Too many one-type links can be a spam indicator and harm your rankings.

  • Appropriate Links:

In a sidebar, for example, links inside the content of the page are said to be worth more than links.

  • Link Anchor:

Anchor text used to be a powerful ranking factor in a connexion. It can be used today as a webspam measure, affecting the rankings negatively.
